Nailon is a topical solution used to treat and eradicate the fungal skin infections such as athlete's foot, jock itch, and ringworm. It is also used in the treatment of pityriasis, a kind of fungal infection that causes a lightening or darkening of the skin of the neck, chest, arms, or legs. It contains a generic medicine called Ciclopirox Olamine.
How does Nailon solution work?
It acts by disrupting the cellular activities such as mitochondrial electron transport processes and energy production and appears to change the plasma membrane of the fungi. It also disrupts the internal structures of the fungi. It also inhibits the activity of enzymes called 5-lipoxygenase and cyclooxygenase that are responsible for inflammation in the body. It also disrupts DNA repair, cell division signals, and structures. These all activities of Ciclopirox Olamine produce cidal effect on the fungi.
Who should not use this medicine?
The use of Nailon solution is contraindicated under certain medical conditions:
- Hypersensitivity with Ciclopirox Olamine
- Weak immune system
- large areas of burned or damaged skin
Drug interaction of Nailon solution:
There are no such drug interactions of Nailon solution. However, there might be some medicines that may show interaction with Nailon solution and reduce the effectiveness of this medicine.
How to apply Nailon solution?
Nailon solution should be applied topically over the skin. First of all, you have to clean your skin with soap and water. Then apply enough medicine to cover the affected area of the skin and rub it gently. It is applied as long as the infection persists. It should be applied 2 times in a day for 2 to 4 weeks.
What are the proper storage conditions for Nailon solution?
Nailon solution should be stored at room temperature and should be protected from heat, light and moisture. It should be kept in dark, cool and dry place.
What to do in case of missed dose of this medicine?
If you forgot to apply this medicine then use it as soon as you remember it. But it is time for next dose then omits this dose and continues with your regular dosing schedule.
What are the side effects of Nailon solution?
A patient can experience some side effects while using this solution such as mild flaming, hurtful, itching, inflammation and irritation of the skin, redness of the skin, peeling of the skin, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips or tongue.
- Don't apply a bandage or cover the affected area after the application of this medicine.
- It should not be used by children under 10 years of age.
- It meant for external use only and you have to apply for this medicine with care so that it may not come in contact with eyes, nose or mouth.
- Don't discontinue this medicine in between the course of treatment.
- If this medicine does not showed any positive result within 4 weeks or symptoms get worse, then discontinue the use of this medicine.
